[sci.electronics] Large Caps wanted

bcasper@eos.ncsu.edu (Brian Casper) (03/14/91)

I'm trying to fix an old Williams Jungle Lord Pinball machine and the logic
power supply faulters when the solenoids engage. I've tracked it down to a
pair of electrolytic capacitors that have seen better days. If anyone has
any caps lying around that they would like to liquidate, let me know.
The values that I need are: 30,000 uF @ 25VDC (about the size of a coke can)
			     18,000 uF @ 20VDC (2 film cases together)

Thanks,

Brian

If you don't have problems with the aesthetics, modern regulated
power supplies don't need such large caps and would probably be a
better solution. Surely you can find something cheap at a surplus
outlet that would be big enough to run this.

Get yourself some junked computer power supplies. (Go to a place that
repairs IBM PCs and the like.) Test the capacitors; most will be good.
