If you get a LED/LCD display catalog from AND (415-347-9916) the data sheet is in the back, and they even include wiring diagrams for the popular microcontrollers. There's a character generator and cursor control in there, so once you get it set up, it does most of the work. But the initialization ritual is complicated. John Nagle

Personally, I have used the 16x1 Hitachi displays on a number of occasions and I have a raster image of the schematics for the interface between this display and a Z80 processor. I also have some schematics on paper showing the same display connected to an 80186 controller. I have some sample Z80 code on my PC I could put on the net also if there is interest. E-Mail requests and I'll send you whatever I have. ..... Jeff Humphrey -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is my signature. Thanks for the suggestions on where to get help on the Hitachi LCD controller. I ended up getting a copy of the AND Display Products Catalog which describes the product in detail. It's much more complex than I expected, although it's relatively easy to use (I am controlling it with an Intel 8052-BASIC controller). Now I have to save my money for the GPS receiver... -- Rich Gopstein gopstein@squibb.com rutgers!squibb.com!gopstein
