Is anyone following this newsgroup interested in electronic space music?? If so, I have discovered a program that would be of interest. It's called "Music from the Hearts of Space", and airs over NPR (National Public Radio) FM stations. If you're in the NYC area, it can be heard from 11-12 PM, Sunday nights on WNYC-FM. I've been listening for about a month, and have heard selections ranging from "environmental" music to jazz related things. I used to think that most electronic music was sort of absurd (a la Walter Carlos's "Switched on $X") or worse yet, pointless (eg. some of Morton Subotnik's work), but this particular program has convinced me that in the right hands, synthesizer or synthesizer/acoustical combinations can be used intelligently. Maybe the Avant Garde isn't a dead end after all... Jim Tomcik Bell Labs Holmdel, NJ houxf!hocda!54394jt
