[sci.electronics] Need touch-tone controlled relay

car@trux.UUCP (Chris Rende) (04/16/91)

I'm looking for a device which can:

- Answer an incomming call on a phone line
- Listen for a combination of 3 touch tone key strokes
- If the combination is correct, activate a relay (to activate another device)
- After a programmable amount of time, deactivate the relay

If you know where I can find such a device (or something similar) please
send Email to me.

Commercial products only, I don't want to build one.

Thanks,

car.

Such devices exist at Radio Shack.

You need the X-10 telephone responder (RS's name for X-10 is "Plug-n-Power").
The telephone responder can activate any unit#. The unit in question
can be either an appliance module (for switching 120VAC or 220VAC), or
the relay output module (I think they call it a burglar alarm interface).
