This is sort of in response to eli's comment on how many people forsake groups and try to stay ahead of the industry or whatever. I have noticed this with myself and many of my friends and have come to a few conclusions as to why things like this happen. One reason I can't stand some groups after they go commercial, is simply that after hearing the same song played on the radio 2873 times a day, I don't par- ticularly want to hear it for about another 2873 years. I purposely don't play my own records more than a couple times a week (at most) for fear of getting sick of them (should I see a psychiatrist?). Another reason is that, for me, commercial groups have a stereo- type associated with them as being musically lame--boring or just plain awful. On many occaisions this is not unjustified, since the music industry tends to thrive on crap. However, some groups, the Police for instance, are still not musically dead despite their popularity. Then again, I can't stand their current hit "Every Step You Take" mainly for the first reason I mentioned. Any more ideas???????? David dno.cvl.umcp-cs@UDEL-RELAY (ARPA)
