[sci.electronics] Help! Info on LCD panel...

schriste@uceng.UC.EDU (Steven V. Christensen) (04/28/91)

Hi Y'all,

I just got back from the Dayton, OH Hamvention (great source
for obscure/old things, if you are into those kinds of things). I
bought an LCD panel, looks like text only, of about 18 lines by
maybe 40 characters. Last year I bought a smaller one, 16x2, and
it came with documentation, so I am familiar with the concept of
how these work. The manufacturer is the same.

Anyway, the back has about 18 surface mount chips by OKI numbered M5279.
The only external connections are a 2 connector for the backlight, and
the one I am interested in, a 20 pin connection for the data.

Does anyone have any information on what those 20 pins are specifically?
If I had a pin-out, I could probably get the thing to work, since like I
mentioned, I had a similar piece. Worse comes to worse, I can look up
the OKI chips for details.

So if anyone out there can help me, I'd greatly appreciate it....

		Thanks,
		  Steven
