I've been following the threads on replacing an 8250 RS232 driver chip with a 16550, and finally took apart my computer to hunt for the comm chip. Well, I found TWO 16C450's. I assume this is because my I/O board has two serial ports. My question is, does it matter which 16550 I replace them with? I assume the C is for CMOS; are all 16550's CMOS? Does it matter? The numbers from each chip are: (MX LOGO) 8838 MX16C450 8007-5 (other one) Lotus Designs LD1101/16C450 8818 LDC advTHANKSance, -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Randy Spangler | Get your mind out of the gutter | | rspangle@jarthur.claremont.edu | you're blocking my periscope | --------------------------------------------------------------------------
