[sci.electronics] Sump pump from the dump

derrick@ritcsh.csh.rit.edu (Derrick Williams) (04/25/91)

Recently I was given a sump pump by friends who live on the floor. It's
a nice sump pump, a 1/4 hp model that is immersable. I am told that it is
in perfect working condition, but I was warned not to try it out, because
if it operates without a tube leading toward a collection tank, the pump
will shoot water with considerable velocity, causing possible damage to
my ceiling.
As I don't want to let this nifty peice of equipment gather dust, does
anybody have any good ideas for uses of a sump pump? I thought it would
make a great beer bong, but I have to justify the space it takes up
in my dorm room.
I will be very interested in suggestions from the net.world.

                                             Thanks,

                                                 Derrick

How bout sticking it in the toilet in the dorm....I highly recommend a BSR
X-10 remote control setup. Have fun.
