[sci.electronics] Why whine now?

scott@hsvaic.boeing.com (Scott Hinckley) (05/17/91)

I have just started getting a very noticeable RPM related whine through
my radio/cassette player. It is apparently being picked up by the
pre-amp in the radio, or the amps themselves, as its volme depends on
the volume of the radio. Also, it affects both tape and radio.

Any idea why this would start up now (1990 Golf Gl w/188k mi). It did
not slowly appear, but rather appeared suddenly 2 weeks ago.

The intensity also appears to be load related (ie, going up hills or AC
on makes it worse. Just cruising it lessens, though RPM is the same).

What could I install to kill this noise?

Thanks for your help,
Scott Hinckley

doesn't 188kmiles on a 1990 car come out to close to 500 miles a day, every

day since the car was sold? Are you in sales? Is your car a test vehicle?
