[sci.electronics] Pass/A40 Power Amplifier/PMD16K100 Transistors?

charlesg@nntp-server.caltech.edu (Charles Grosjean) (05/26/91)

I found an article in a 1978 Audio Amateur describing a class A amplifier
designed by Nelson Pass (of Threshold). I can find most of the parts except
for the output transistors which are PMD16K100 and PMD17K100 lambda's. I
can't find these transistors anywhere and I was wondering if anyone knew of
either an equivalent or a source. Pass states that not substitutions should
be used, but I'm willing to try anything. Thanks in advance.

I ordered the transistors directly from the manufacturer, when i build mine
in 81. They had a $50 min. which was satisfied by my order.
You might also be able to get them from Old Colony (associated with the mag.)
One other thing you could try is to look up follow-on letters going well
into the 80s. I think he published an update on the amp and i think he
mentioned something about output devices.
