I know this might be a bit far-fetched, but I am hoping some-one can help me with a vacuum tube question. I have refurbished an ancient (circa 1960 ) Harmon/Kardan amp (model A-300, about 12 watts/ch). It runs quite smoothly with efficient speakers. My question: the output tubes for this amp are 7408's. While I just installed a couple of new pairs (the final step of the restoration and the most dramatic), they are cross referenced with 6V6's, which are more common (and better looking ;-). Does anyone out there know what the real differ ence is ?? Power, or noise ?? No difference ?? Thnaks in advance for any help.
