[sci.electronics] Thanks for 2910 help

rainer@boulder.Colorado.EDU (Rainer Malzbender) (06/06/91)

The consensus about 2910-style sequencers is that AMD got surpassed in the
speed department, primarily by Cypress and IDT, although I notice AMD also
has CMOS versions of the 2910. TI and Analog Devices also make sequencers,
although I haven't checked them out. Since my requirements are for speed
rather than functionality (interrupts, etc.), I will most likely go with
the Cypress CY7C910 part, which is something like $12 in 100's from our rep.
Now my problem is coming up with a 4K x 48 static ram solution for the
WCS - everybody has these fast cache srams which are unnecessarily fast and
expensive for me.

Thanks to all (and there were suprisingly many, in this day of DSP's and
RISC's :-) who replied with info, it really helped.
