Greetings. I picked up a working SONY VideoCorder (AVC-3400) and I would like to know if the plug has a connection for a video out - best if it's composite. Anyone? Oh, I also got the recorder that came with the camera. It works but the tape guides are not aligned and the tape sticks (stops). And, if someone gives me the good news that the camera has a composite output (or something easily converted to ...) AND they have a NEW pickup tube ---- I will give them the recorder/ player in exchange for the tube!!!! Anyone interested? Take care. -- _______________________________________________________________________________ "The Force will be with you, always." If the standard round screw-on multiway connector is fitted, I would expect the pinout to be as follows: 1 Video out 2 Video out ground 3 Vertical Sync In 4 VS ground 5 Horizontal sync In 6 Remote switch 7 Microphone 8 Mic ground 9 Ground 10 +12v The video out is composite, but I am not sure how the camera will run without the syncs- I have been told it will work without, but not sure if mods may be required. Also, I speak in relation to the European AVC 3420, the 3400 _may_ be different in some way? I would expect the problem with sticking tape to be due to the tape itself, and not the guides. If you are using Sony High Density tape then the chances are that it is decomposing and useless. If you have a number of reels then you may find one or two that are OK, but most are usually scrap. Sony (and some others) had big problems with the long term life of these tapes. I am the curator of what may be the UKs(worlds?) most comprehensive collection of vintage video formats. If you have any more queries then I may well be able to help. I have examples of virtually all the small formats of open reel machines from the sixties/seventies, that were sold in the UK. ================================================================================ Martin Loach, Childhood Cancer Research Group, Belsyre Court, 57 Woodstock Rd, Oxford, OX2 6HJ, United Kingdom.
