I tried to e-mail you, but it didn't work...How can I reach you via internet? Anyway, I was wonderng how much those a/d d/a chips cost. And it sounds like you're doing digital audio signal processing. I'm very interested in doing this as a hobby...what do you have going? -Doug

Approx costs of converter chips (in NZD, multiply by 0.58 for USD) TDA1541 - $25 TDA1535 - $25 TDA1434 - $35 (the 14 bit A/D) - these are one off , over the counter prices from Philips/Elcoma - you could do a lot better in quantity ! AK9201 - i've been quoted $110NZ from a local importer , via a Japanese buying house (hence several markups ) you could try Asahi Kasei Microsystems co., Ltd Yoyogi Community Bldg . 3F. 11-2 Yoyogi 1-Chome, Shibuya-Ku,Tokyo 151. Japan Ph (03)320-2062 Fax (o3)320-2072 I got my specimens rather deviously as a spare part for a Jap brand music sampler (which i dont own!) and they only cost about $30 ! - these are great 16 bit A/Ds. The BB PCM56 is used in every second CD player , and again is cheaper to buy as a spare part than from your friendly local BB dealer - probably cos the OEM guys buy in zillions - typical price $15. Try emailing me again using the address at the top of the message - maybe you were unlucky , others have got through. Look forward to hearing from you & good luck with your project.
