[sci.electronics] signal conversion: ntsc

reyy@vax5.cit.cornell.edu (06/18/91)

Greetings,

I need a circuit to convert a tv signal (NTSC I guess,
the signal that comes from the cable company) to signals
that can be used by my A/V receiver (sorry I don't know
the name of the format, so I'll explain a little better).
I am more concerned with audio, but video would be good,
too. I need to take the sound from channel 3 and run it
into my stereo. Right now my VCR is doing this job for
me (the audio out is coming from the RCA jacks in the
back of the VCR), but I'm not going to have the VCR
much longer. This is the setup I want:

      -----------------     ------------     --------
=====>|cable converter|====>|my circuit|---->|stereo|
      ----------------- ||  ------------  ^  --------
                     --------             |audio signal
                     |  tv  |
                     --------

(now I have respect for those who make diagrams w/ ASCII)

Any info on how to build this circuit will be helpful.
It will be best to EMAIL your comments as I will be
gone for a few days next week and posts will expire.
Thanks for all your help!
