Hello net : I have recently been shopping for another cordless telephone. The one I have now is a circa 1985 Radio Shack (I know, I know) and it is terribly noisy and I can't talk on it when my neighbour uses his cordless (not even if I touch my antennas (antennae?) together!). I have been looking at Sanyo products with variations of COMPANDER noise reduction. From a technical point of view, what is the Compander NR scheme? How does it work? What was changed in Super-Compander II NR? Aside : Any info on the digital coding schemes of the Sanyo cordless would also be of use. Aside #2 : If anyone has any experience with Sanyo products that they would like to share (or their main competition (around here anyways) Panasonic) regarding performance, differences between the two brands etc... What is Sound Charger? (Panasonic). I know that it's their "compander" but it's also something else... How does Panasonic manage a 7-day stanbd by? Does the handset convert unused sound energy (ambient) into electricity, step it up and charge the battery? (1/2 :-) What is the N/R portion of Sound Charger? Disclaimer : Sound Charger is a trademark of Panasonic Inc. Compander may or may not be a trademark of Sanyo Inc. Super Compander II is a trademark of Sanyo Inc. I am not affiliated with either company or I would know these answers! :-) -- Craig Lemon - Kitchener, Ontario.
