[sci.electronics] Specs on "remote" connector of Sony Diskman???

anbo@wuee1.wustl.edu (Albrecht Jander) (06/20/91)

Does anyone know the funcition/pinouts of the "REMOTE" connector on
a Sony Diskman (looks exactly like the headphone jack, but is on the
left side of the unit)? Can I use my computer to select tracks on the
CD? Hmmmmm.

I don't know for sure, but that's probably a ^S port. Lots of Sony stuff
has a mini jack for a wired version of the singals which are sent by
Sony IR remote commanders.

If it's a ^S port, you most certainly can. For more info on the ^S port,
anonymous ftp to mrcnext.cso.uiuc.edu in the /video directory. There is
a description of the ^S protocol as well as some control software (I
think...) At any rate, the software should be pretty straightforward,
once you have the specs.
