Now the question for the rest of you... Does anyone have the address
for this place. I WANT one of the kits REAL bad. Maybe someone
has the kit itself ?

Thanks in advance.

Just what is this kit? Is is really RADAR? or is it SONAR (ultrasonic)?
or maybe LASER (with a diode?)?

For $100-$300, you can have the real thing. Go to one of the bigger
hamfests in your area. At Dayton, there were about 5 or 6 guys selling
radar guns, as cheap as $125 for Kustom MR-7's (X-band moving-type
radar guns). The Ramsey kit operates on S band, which is sort of a
blessing, because you won't set off everyone's radar detector.

No, it's doppler radar. S band. I've seen Ramsey's demo models working
at hamfests, but heard a lot of grief from a couple of netters who built
the kit themselves.

The kit is really RADAR. It uses a TVRO FET as the oscillator.
2 - 1lb coffee cans soldered end-to-end serve as the feedhorn. The
"timebase" is a free running RC oscillator. In case you've not figured it
out by now, it is pretty much junque. I bought one just to see if it
worked at all. Despite monumental efforts at tweaking AND a trip
back to Ramsey, the thing never had a range of more than a few dozen feet.
Needless to say, the "calibration" depended on the supplied voltage, the
temperature, the humidity, the phase of the moon and your attitude at
the moment.

Considering that for just a little bit more money one can either buy a
used REAL radar gun surplus or one can buy a GunnPlexer and have
the basis for a really functional unit, buying this kit is throwing
money away. I like most of the other Ramsey products I've bought but
the radar gun is pretty bad.

Nope, it's radar. "Operates on 2.6 GHz with 5 mW power output...uses two
1 lb. coffee cans (not included in kit)...runs on 12 VDC...antenna can be
remoted up to 300 feet away...$89.95" From the spring 1991 catalog.

Negative. It is a real working radar. I have seen a static display of it
working at a HamFest. If you wave your hand back and forth at high
speed in front of the "gun" made from the tennis ball can, you can see
your hand speed displayed. I assume it is just a little gunn oscillator,
and you mix the return with the xmitted signal (either electronically
or in the waveguide...I don't do microwaves) and it looks at the
sum or difference frequency and converts it to a speed.
I have no idea how accurate this thing is, or how much range it has,
but they claimed it could be used for measuring speeds of passing cars.
