OK, I've spent 2 days with it now, and I've got some questions. Other info: Sys: IBM 8Mhz AT, 30MB drive(type 20), two serial/par. cards, ega video card running HGA on IBM monitor. O/S: QNX 2.15, protected mode, QTerm, installed auto matically on a single partition. 1) After switching from one console to another, any commands typed before the first <CR> get "lost". If you hit a return right after switching, it's ok. Is this normal? How do you fix or work around this? 2) Is there a way, or is it even really necessary to unmount a console? 3) In *nix shells, you can use the output from shell commands and put them into a variable - (I'm not a wiz, so this may not be exactly the right syntax, but you'll get the idea.) some_var='ps -ef | grep xxxx | cut -f3 ' and have a string or number get set into "some_var". I don't see a way to do this in SH. Am I wrong? 4) Is there a Bourne-like or C-like shell for Qnx? Where can I get it, if there is? Thanx people!!! (Jeez, and I thought the *nix documentation was bad!!!) -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael G.
