I'm looking for a device which could be connected to a serial port and provide control (switch closures, etc.) and sensing of remote signals. I would like to be able to log into our system from home and run a program which will indicate the status of such things as the security alarm, critical heating or A/C systems, etc., and allow me to activate certain signals on command (e.g., enable/disable an alarm). The s/w is no problem - all I need is the h/w device which can be commanded and interrogated via a serial port - any baud rate will do. .---------------. .-------. | |-------------->| |<---input .----. | Our | serial link | ??? |<---input | me |--| Unix | | |<---input `----' | System | | |--->output | |<--------------| |--->output | | serial link | |--->output `---------------' `-------' I know it isn't too complicated to make such a beast - I just don't have the time to worry about it. I'd rather buy. Thanks in advance. -- Jeffrey Mattox, Heurikon Corp, Madison, WI {harpo, hao, philabs}!seismo!uwvax!heurikon!jeff (news & mail) {ihnp4, allegra}!uwvax!heurikon!jeff (mail - but slower)
