[net.wanted] Remote controller/sensor to hook to a serial I/F

jeff@heurikon.UUCP (01/15/84)

I'm looking for a device which could be connected to a serial port
and provide control (switch closures, etc.) and sensing of remote
signals. I would like to be able to log into our system from home
and run a program which will indicate the status of such things as
the security alarm, critical heating or A/C systems, etc., and allow
me to activate certain signals on command (e.g., enable/disable an
alarm). The s/w is no problem - all I need is the h/w device which
can be commanded and interrogated via a serial port - any baud rate
will do.

I know it isn't too complicated to make such a beast - I just don't
have the time to worry about it. I'd rather buy. Thanks in advance.
