Many papers explain new trends in the evolution of operating systems, from
huge monolithic systems to loosely coupled distributed systems, by the
increase in the ratio power/cost of workstations. But so far I haven't seen
any actual figures. What I am looking for would be lists of prices along with
an estimation of performance (e.g. MIPS for what it's worth) of different kinds
of hardware ranging from workstations to mainframes at different periods e.g.
60s, 70s, 80s and now.

Thanks in advance,
