Regarding the query by Mike Ryan regarding the MEXPAT TIMEBASE parameter, I don't now what this does, and would be interested to know (in fact MEXPAT does not seem to be very fully documented anywhere. There is a file MEX-BUFF.LBR, but I think that it only discusses the buffers part of MEXPAT). I am not sure what exactly is meant by "buffer overrun" in this context. MEX has a "modem port queue" which can fill up when incoming data rates are high. I have experienced this problem when running at 9600 baud and avoided it by setting STAT QUEUE OFF and having an external buffer with the ability to exercise flow control. Gordon
