I recently bought a copy of CP/M for the Altos 8000-14 (a z80-based multi- user machine that usually runs MP/M). I bought it because a customer has a working MP/M system but needs certain utility programs that won't work on MP/M. The customer's system has a 40-meg disk formatted as five logical drives for MP/M. When CP/M arrived (it took three weeks), it was version 2.26F2 (an Altos version number). The "preliminary" manual (dated 1982) said that this version was compatible with MP/M 2.0 and following in terms of its hard disk partitioning. Imagine my surprise that the hard disk partitioning had been changed! The customer has MP/M 1.1 so this CP/M can't access his hard disk! It may take another three weeks to get the correct copy of CP/M from Altos or it may be altogether impossible. In either case, I would like to obtain an earlier copy of CP/M for the 8000 from someone. Can anyone help?
