[comp.os.cpm] CP/M

My division (AT&T) is donating some surplus Heathkit CP/M machines to
the local Primary School. My problem is locating programs that would
be of interest/useful for primary school age children (ages 6-10).

I am interested in word processing programs, educational programs and
games.

Thanks in advance,
Rich Soyack

There are certainly a great number of programs out there that will do
what you're looking for, but it would be very time consuming to pull
them all together. We have a BBS here in DC that specializes in CP/M
and I have a ton of it for my two Teletek S-100's sitting here, but for
       primary grade children.... beats me.

I recently obtained Atari's CP/M emulator for the Atari ST. It seems to work
reasonably well. But I do need some software including a Z80 assembler, a
C compiler, and a good text editor. I'm willing to pay (but how would I get it
on Atari's ST CP/M format disks?) but public domain stuff would be fine. Are
there any BBS's in the US (preferably in Calif/SF Bay Area) that have such
software? If I have to pay, what would be a good fast assembler, not to
fancy, but fast turn around time? How about a fast WS compatible editor? Any
help that you can provide would be great.

Thanks,

I just came upon a Morrow (Micro Decision) z80 machine
that runs ... CPM! Whats out there? Anything? It comes with
a few programs but I would like to find a terminal emulation
program, compilers? Anyone own, heard of these? It seems to
be a 64 k machine running version 2.2 cp/m.
Any and all help, info, reply will be appreciated with
ultimate blessing!

Joe,

the Morrow Micro-Decision computers are pretty fine machines.
We bought one for my Dad several years ago and he still uses it
regularly. Dad's desires are pretty modest; he's quite
happy with WordStar and I've made up a couple utilities
for him. TurboPascal works just fine for the dinking around.
I keep a few things like spreadsheets in Dad's portfolio so I
can do some work while visiting and out of reach of my CPM
machines.

The MD2s and kin are pretty much middle of the road CPM so they
don't quibble much about any middle of the road CPM software.

Unfortunately, support is a bit hard to find. George Morrow himself
is alive and well, but the company didn't make it (they were having
too much fun).
