[comp.os.cpm] JRT PASCAL problems II

rec@advdev.Cambridge.NCR.COM (rob coutch) (12/01/88)

In an earlier letter I wrote:
How can JRT PASCAL files be made into .COM files.

In response to some letters I have received, I must also state :

I have several versions of TURBO PASCAL for CP/M; however, none of them
will run on my CP/M machine. (This includes the TINST.COM program)

My CP/M machine is unusual in that it was not designed for CP/M. The machine
was designed for point of sale applications and CP/M was added on as a feature
(software) later. The machine uses an 8085 uP and was designed/built by my
company back in 1980 or so.

Finally;
when compiling JRT PASCAL programs the JRTPAS3.COM program is used and creates
.INT files. These files will now run using the EXEC.COM program.
MY question now is:
Why is there a linker program called LINKER.INT that generates .IN2 files
from .INT files that were compiled using JRTPAS3.COM.
Does this linker generate code that can be used by DDT, LOAD, or some other
CP/M system program. If no, then why have the linker?

Thanks for all those who have written
or plan to write to me.

By the way; e-mail would be the best way to
reply as I don't get to read the news items
			very often.

Disclaimer: I disclaim everything!

The 8085 will not run Turbo. There is a NSC800 chip that might be close
enough to the 8085 to substitute in to give z80 instructions. There was
a cause for this in the Zenith Z100 computer at one time.
