Myron, for sale messages are not allowed on the Arpanet side of this newsgroup. Please use misc.forsale which is not gatewayed to the Arpanet side. The quote below, from a message I received on the subject, summarizes the situation. --forwarded message-- (sender's address omitted as it was a private msg). Keith, In my capacity as moderator of [an Arpanet Digest], I specifically asked the people who run the ARPANET what the policy is a couple years ago, and the message that came back was clear: no commercial solicitations. My strong understanding is that this includes, for example, people trying to sell their equipment via ARPANET digests. In fact, I've been a little concerned about Info-Cpm for a while because of this, and have come close to sending you a note about it once or twice before. I'd hate to see us get shut down because of such a trivial and relatively unimportant part of Info-Cpm as classified ads for computer equipment for sale. ---end forwarded message--- As I've stated before, I have no power to change this Department of Defense policy. If we cannot voluntarily comply on the Usenet side of this newsgroup I will have no choice but to ask that the gateway between Usenet and Arpanet be shut off. --Keith Petersen Maintainer of the Info-Cpm mailing list Internet: w8sdz@WSMR-Simtel20.Army.Mil Uucp: {ames,decwrl,harvard,rutgers,ucbvax,uunet}!wsmr-simtel20.army.mil!w8sdz
