[comp.sys.m6809] Heathkit Hero Jr. Robot

crd@lzaz.UUCP (03/05/87)

Greetings, folks!

Does anyone have a Heathkit Hero Junior robot that they would like
to sell? I understand it is programmable, 6808-based, and includes
heat and motion sensors. Actually, I would like to hear from anyone
who would like to sell ANY programmable robot with sensors, in kit
form or otherwise.

Sorry about possibly inappropriate subject, but there does not seem
to be a rec.robots. By the way, is there a strong interest in robotics
on this wonderful net? Should we lobby for a separate group? Thanks!

If you want the kit, the Hero Jr. is in the current Heath catalog for
$200. This package includes the robot kit, the RF remote control,
the IR motion detector, and the ROM cartridge adapter. The basic
robot includes a Polariod sonar, (for ranging), sound detectors,
and a voice synthesizer based on the Votrax SC01 chip. If you want
to program it, you also want to get the rs-232 port ($50) and the
Basic cartridge ($50).

If you like to build kits, its a lot of stuff for $200. I assume this
is a closeout price; at one point the Hero Jr. sold for around $800 or
more. According to my catalog, this price is good until April 1,
1987.

If you don't want to build the kit, I might consider selling mine and
building the kit again.
