So far, the best feature of Level II is the cost. It was $99.00 in Canada, which if you keep track of the exchange rate, is a real bargain. The worst thing about it is a toss up. Either it's the floppy disk driver or it's the lack of some of the utilities you got with Level I. The window system show really great potential. Keep in mind that what we have here is sort of the underlying software compared to the "finished" stuff you see in GEM and the WIMP interfaces. Apparently, the Color Computer will have its own WIMP interface (Multivision?). The system level windows are really something else. It took me a while, but I have successfully installed Stylograph (full 6809 version rather than the Color Computer version--but I must warn you that is has a few bugs and won't print out, which limits its usefulness a fair bit :-). I have also installed Dynacalc (no big deal--you just copy it into CMDS with the terminal def. file) and Xcom9, which works well enough for now. There is one really bad bug in the floppy driver. It has problems with side select in mixed formats. I could not get a double sided drive system to work. I'm currently using twin 80 cylinder drives singled sided. I dunno. Maybe it's time for me to get a hard disk for it. Cheers! -- Jim O. -- Jim Omura, 2A King George's Drive, Toronto, (416) 652-3880 ihnp4!utzoo!lsuc!jimomura Byte Information eXchange: jimomura
