Hi! Just a quick tip to fellow do-it-yourself-ers out there. If you're doing your own 512K upgrade for the CoCo 3, DON'T push the expansion board down all the way. It seems the sockets don't have a bottom on them, and the pins can push all the way down onto the board and short to traces! I've seen warnings like this around, but they seemed to say that the problem was that you might contact the tops of the electrolytic caps, which, on my board are actually quite a ways down. So, being the fool i am, i just plugged it in good and snug. Worked fine for a while, then started going thermal sensitive. Ha! I says, the memory board must have loosened up, so i pulled it out, pressed the memory chips in tighter, and put the board back in. Ulp! Video garbage. I wish i could say i figured it out then, but it took 16 new ram chips to bring the point home. Oh well, at least i didn't short +5 to ground! tim sirianni
