This  is  one  reason  we  chose  os-9  for  our  development systems
(hardware  and software),  test systems,  and demo  systems.  They're
almost all prom based with lots of files, but  only one  cio and math
file.  It always annoyed me to have to wait a minute for a 1/2 page c
program to download.
