[comp.sys.m6809] Reviews on 512K upgrade?

jonh@tekgen.UUCP (Andy Davidson) (07/06/87)

I have finally come into some money, $80-90. I would like to get the 512K
upgrade before I get OS9 LII. Am I right when I assume that I can use LII
& 512K without any other software, or must I get a driver or something with
the upgrade? I don't need an RS-DOS Ramdisk, just a memory upgrade that won't
go on the blink. The lowest price I've seen advertised in Rainbow is $80, by
Microtech Consultants. Can anyone vouch for the performance of this product?
(BTW, I'm installing it myself--plugging in a board is no big deal for even
Jon Ten-Left-Thumbs Howell :-)
The next price was $88.88, but I can't remember the company. (I don't want to
pay $79.95, then PLUS $19.99 for a Ramdisk program.)
Any advice and/or reviews will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
	Jon

When i upgraded to 512K, i got the bare board from disto. No software,
which was fine with me. I posted my experience with it a month or so
back - to summarize: DONT PLUG IT IN TOO FAR! The sockets on the
coco don't have bottoms, and you can short pins to circuit board traces.
The thing cost me (i think) $40. I ordered it from a company in the
US - otherwise customs holds up delivery a week or two. Of course, 256K
ram chip prices have gone up a lot lately - thanks congresscritters.

I havent had any problems with the board.
