[comp.sys.m6809] transient errors

mdk@cblpf.ATT.COM (x5693) (08/27/87)

To all you OS9 Gurus out there,

While working with OS9 Level 2 on my CoCo3, I occasionally get CRC errors
when I pack a Basic09 file and also when I copy a compiled C program into
my /d0/cmds directory. With the basic file, if I try to pack it a second
time, the error doesn't appear. Also, when I try a modpatch on a loaded file
to verify the CRC, the patch executes, but the CRC isn't updated. Can
anyone explain what is going on?

While I'm asking questions, to Peter Dibble, I really enjoyed all the
information you and Dale Puckett packed into _The Complete Rainbow Guide to
OS9_. Was there a typo in the SPINT program in the workshop? In the
index(s,p) part, I keep getting a syntax error when I compile, but the code
is exactly as in the book.

Thanks for the help.

Hmm - what *kind* of CRC errors?? Module CRC's or sector CRC's?? If
the latter, there have been scores of problems associated with running
older type disk controllers at the 2MHZ rate.. Also, you might want to
swap drives (pardon the simplicity in that, but you did explicitly
refer to /d0/cmds in both cases..). Also assumed you've upgraded your
multipak with the new PAL..
