First, a request for assistance: On disk I now have Rescue on Fractalus and Koronis Rift which I'm trying to install on the same disk so I don't have too many lying around at one time (Thank you Tandy for NOT Copy Protecting them!!!!!). I noted that these and Deskmate all use the vdgint (?) module instead of the GRFInt module, so I figured that I might be able to stick the Fractalus and Koronis related modules onto a Deskmate disk. Unfortunately, they don't seem to run on the Deskmate disk. Neither did Flight Simulator II. I noticed on Flight Simulator II that it's on OS-9 Version 2.00.01 whereas Deskmate is on version 2.00.00. I don't think this is the problems. Is it? Has anybody succeeded in consolidating these onto the same disks? Rogue runs well on the same disks as my compiler and other window oriented software. Great to be able to play it whenever I want without rebooting all the time! THEXDER is here! I have it. It has 1 problem -- I think. I'm running Thexder out of slot 3 of the Multipak and this may not be a problem if you plug it in direct. But I have no intention of dismantling my system just to play Thexder: At the end of the game, it starts a new game immediately upon the death of your ship. It starts so fast I miss reading my score and no high score is retained (not even for the session). I have no idea how well I've done. Also, they chose the Right Joystick port for the joystick. This is the port normally used for the mouse. It's aggrevating having to swap the joystick and mouse back and forth. As such, I don't use the joystick, and the keyboard response isn't as good as the joystick response. Thexder isn't all that special a game in terms of programming. It's a fairly ordinary maze type game for the most part. The only thing that makes it exceptional is the tie-in with transforming robot/battlesuits such as in Macross/Robotech. The jet/robot is an obvious copy of a Macross/Robotech Valkerie/Veritech with Battloid and Fighter modes. No GERWALK/Guardian mode is provided and frankly, the controls are hard enough without a 3rd mode. As it is, I find the game to my liking overall. I just wish I could find out what scores I'm getting. The sound isn't as elaborate as on the Apple II GS version either (I haven't heard it myself, but it's been described to me). This one only has little blippy noises. However, the maze is all there. Possibly the CoCo3 version has the best colors (not sure). It has 2 sets of color settings in order to be used on RGB and Composite monitors. I found that the Composite colorset when used on an RGB monitor is fantastic! Much better than the *intended* colorset. The jet looks *exactly* the right colors for Macross!
