I tried the development systems LOGIN and TSMON commands and they seem to work fine when used with /TERM so they definitely aren't the old level I commands. As I have mentioned before, my system crashes periodically when I'm running various terminal programs and I am beginning to think that ACIAPAK is the common factor. I can (somewhat) reliably crash my system by flipping a switch on my modem which causes it to act as if it's receiving a stream of characters and then just arrange not to keep up with the incoming characters. I think there must be some problem with the buffering logic in ACIAPAK. -- Name: Mark Acfield (University of Toronto Computing Services) Path: ac@gpu.utcs.toronto.edu {utzoo,ihnp4}!utgpu!ac Alias: ac@utorgpu.bitnet

While there may be *NO* problem with tsmon and login there most certainly is a problem with something if having your modem echo characters can crash your system. I made a similar mistake and indeed my system crashed. Overruning buffers should hang the application, not crash the system! -- Name: Mark Acfield (University of Toronto Computing Services) Path: ac@gpu.utcs.toronto.edu {utzoo,ihnp4}!utgpu!ac Alias: ac@utorgpu.bitnet
