[comp.sys.m6809] New Coco 3 Multi-Pak

knudsen@ihwpt.ATT.COM (mike knudsen) (02/06/88)

From a reliable source (really, those were the exact words),
comes the news of a RealS Soon Now Multi-Pak for the Coco 3.
There are two possibilities: the obvious one, just like the
current white Pak with the "upgrade" built in.
You want RS232? Sorry 'bout that, maybe Tandy doesn't want us
talking to each other on Delphi or CIS anyway...

The other is much better: same four-slice toaster,
but with knockouts in the back and mounts for two daughter boards
(similar to 512K RAM upgrades).
One will be RS232 (whew!) and the other a Centronics parallel
printer port ('bout time, eh?).
Officially these must be installed by Tandy Service Center
(like the 512K) but of course 3rd-party clones will get around
that (like 512K, but you heard that one already).

Better yet, 3rd-party makers will probably be able to cram even
more functions onto the daughter boards -- clock/calendars,
RAMdisks, HDisk interface, MIDI, IBM-PClone bus adapters, ...
DISTO should have a field day, but with competition.
