TITLE: RS 15-1272A Video Processor and Color Computer 3 I finally got a chance to do some testing to see if it could clean up the output from my Color Computer 3. Results were, well, interesting. You may recall that I had problems with a horizontal black bar rising through the image slowly, possibly due to strange timing. The video processor has some "genlocking" circuit, and I was hoping that this would correct this problem. It didn't quite work. However, that's not the whole story. The biggest problem I found that whether or not I had the Genlock switched in, the output signal from the video processor, as recorded by the Sony, would not display on monitors or TV's at all. The signal that starts the picture probably isn't being recorded strong enough. If you "pause" the picture or fast forward, you can *see* the pictures, more or less. So I have a pretty good idea what they would look like *if* the signal was displayable. The screen modes I use are 80 * 24 text, 640 * 192 graphics, 40 * 24 text and 320 * 192 graphics. There seems to be a worse problem with the 40 column text and 320 pixel graphics screens than with the 80 column text and 640 pixel graphics screens. The 80 column text and 640 pixel screens *were* corrected by the video processor's genlock. The 40 column text and 320 pixel graphics screens still had problems. To make sure that the genlock was actually doing the correcting, I switched off the genlock and recorded more in the 640 pixel graphics mode, and sure enough, the bar reappeared. So, there it is. The video processor *almost* works. Not quite. -- Jim Omura, 2A King George's Drive, Toronto, (416) 652-3880 ihnp4!utzoo!lsuc!jimomura Byte Information eXchange: jimomura
