[comp.sys.m6809] troubles, troubles

mdk@cbnews.ATT.COM (Shadow) (10/12/88)

I tell ya, when it rains, it pours! So far tonight I have had 4 (countem
F-O-U-R) boot disks die. I'm beginning to think my wife is finally trying
to get even for being a computer widow+-). Actually, I think it just might
be my drive 0 in need of repair, although it loaded DatapackIII okay. It
just seems like it doesn't want to boot OS9. Not only have I tried to
create four new boots (they all failed too), but the disk that I copied
config onto is giving me 243 errors (CRC error). Makes you want to
grep...uh...grab the whole thing and toss it across the room.

By the way, I am planning on writing to Bill Vergonia at Cer-Comp to tell
him about some of the problems I have encountered using DatapackIII+. Does
anyone out there have any suggestions for him. If you could include a
return address for yourself it might lend more weight. I would like to
find out if there is any way to send him a Trouble Report, Modification
Request, Discrepancy Report, (pick your development phrase of the week+-))
So far, I have 3 chief complaints: 1) I can't use the VT100 mode to edit
files on the UNIX machine here at AT&T (I use my Coco3 to work from home).
VI just bombs out, so I have to use VT52 protocol. VT52 is okay, but I
like the reverse bold and graphical stuff that VT100 gets. 2) The keyboard
layout for Datapack is driving me nuts. I spend most of my Coco time using
OS9 and the keyboard layout for Datapack confuses me (okay, okay enough of
that snickering in the back!+-)). Not only that, but instead of underbars
I get those little reverse left arrows, and carots look like up arrows.
3) Every single time I try to download a
file (using either xmodem or ascii buffer capture) I get extra CR in the
file. I can't find anywhere in the documentation that tells me how to map
the CRLF to CRs. Has anyone out there found out how to do it?

Wow, this has turned out to be a long letter. Anyway, if anyone out there
has some solutions to my 1,079 problems, any information would be greatly
appreciated. Sorry, we can't pay you, just live with the knowledge that
you done a great service to humanity......
