[comp.sys.m6809] Adapting coco OS9 for other machines

easton@aucis.UUCP (Jeff Easton) (03/14/89)

I have a uniboard 6809 based computer system. The board was
purchased back in 1984 from Digital Research Computers. At the
time they sold drivers for two operating systems, FLEX and OS9.
Naturally, I choose the FLEX. Now, after learning the errors of my
ways :> I would rather use the OS9 operating system. I checked with
DRC and they now no longer support this board.
My question is this: Can the coco OS9 software be easily adapted to
my system? I have read thru the early OS9 manuals circa 1984 and found
them not to informative. Are the new versions any better in the
documentation department? Which level would be better to use, I or II?
I'm leaning toward level II if I can remove the coco 3 specific code.
I understand that DRC's drivers included a new ROM inorder to boot OS9.
If I knew the boot sequence I could write my own bootstrap code since I
rewrote the entire FLEX based ROM anyway.

Please post responses since this may intrest other 6809 SBC users.
