[comp.sys.m6809] OS9/LII Gimix full blown system for sale

                          Gimix for Sale
                          ==============

I have been considering selling the infamous Gimix because of my
other distractions (i.e. work, school, and MIDI). I'm not leaving
the OS9 community, just shuffling hardware. It runs flawlessly,
everything works, and it's a fairly hefty, industrial class OS9 unit.
This is unit is/was considered to the be serious OS9'ers dream
configuration. Here's the breakdown:

Hardware:
=========

CPU:

Gimix II CPU card w/ onboard battery backed up scratchpad RAM (8K),
3 programmable timers (6840.. not used by OS9), multiple ROMS and
4 ROM slots, AMD 9511 math coprocessor. Revised to run at 2.25 Mhz
(coco3's run at 1.89 Mhz). Also uses a 4K/Block DAT, so you have more
flexible mapping and less 'out of memory' problems than with the
8K/Block coco mapping scheme.

Memory:

Computer Excellence board with 1 Meg of 256K DRAMS. This is a maxed
out CE board, with modifications to give each process almost all
of the 64K map. No upper DAT block lockout. (i.e. system space isn't
resident in top block).

Disks & Controllers:

The hard disk subsystem is a Xebecx controller with an Elektra
SS-50 interface. Supports up to 2 ST-506 hard drives, full DMA
interrupt driven. The drive installed is a NEC-5146 40 (42?) Megabyte
drive, which is fast, and hast never had so much as a hiccup. The
floppies are controlled by a Gimix G68 DMA floppy controller (also a
no-halt unit), and I currently run 3 DSQD 80 track drives. It will
support virtually ANY type of floppy. It also has connectors for
8" drives, if desired. Can run a maximum of 4 floppies of any type.

Ports:

8 serial ports, and 4 parallel ports. 6 of the serial ports are 6850
UARTS, and the other 2 are 2681 DUART (programmable baud rates).
Needless to say, this would be the ideal OS9 system for a multiple
line bulletin board system. I currently run 5 terminals, 2 modems, and
an appliance controller (BSR X10 Powerhouse), as well as two parallel
printers. As a side note, I have an application that uses one of the
extra parallel ports to maintain an "I'm alive" dialog with a
connected coco. If the Gimix stops for any period, the COCO reboots
it. I'd throw in the cabling and software to do that as well.

Misc:

I also have a text to speach board that works pretty neat. Good for
dialing in remotely and shaking up the family. There's also an analog
to digital converter boar that I never did anything with.

Software:

What can I say.... everything. OS9/LII, all utilities (my commands dir
has over 700 commands in it), C Compiler, multiple assemblers, Pascal
Compiler, COBOL compiler (preliminary release), SCULPTOR, Basic09, KC
BASIC, Dynamite+ disassembler, SuperSleuth disassembler, SOLVE
debugger, Coco3 developer pak, and sooooo much other stuff I can't
recall. Oh yes - StyloGraph, Dynastar, the multi-terminal version
of Dynacalc, hundreds of sources, a working multi-line login and mail
system, automated system scheduling and dispatch tools.. just about
everything ever brought out for OS9/6809. I also have most of the
Coco3 specific stuff as well (but no more coco3). I also have the
documentation for all this stuff - a shelf full of books. I have a few
hundred floppies as well.

==================================================================
Optional items (negotiable):

Also possibly separately available are -

o - Juki 6100 Daisywheel printer (18 cps)

o - Okidate u92 dot matrix printer (180 cps)

o - 2400 baud modem

o - Wyse 50 terminal
===================================================================

I won't belabor original costs on all this stuff... (it'd be
ridiculous.. old Gimix pricelists will show prices in the $8k range
for the basic CPU + 256K unit w/o hard disk) - . I'm just looking for
best _reasonable_ offer. I have a range in mind, but am willing to
flex.

Also - this unit is heavy, and about 20% larger than a typical AT
chassis. It has a power supply you could arc weld with, which adds to
the weight.
