[comp.sys.m6809] IEEE floating point package?

ulf@fangorn.* (Ulf Andersson) (04/09/91)

Hello everybody.

Is there anybody out there who knows about any floating point
packages for the 6809? Please respond by E-mail to me.

Thanks in advance.

Back in '83 Moto sold a part called MC6839 "Floating Point ROM" for
the 6809. It is an 8K ROM with code supporting the IEEE STD draft 8.0.
It has the following formats: single, double, & extended. It has the
following operations: add, subtract, multiply, divide, sqr rt,
remainder, integer part, abs val, neg, int->fp, fp->decimal string,
predicate compares, and condition code compares. It has 4 rounding
modes, 2 closure modes, and a normalize mode.
I believe I have one in my spares box.

The source and S1-S9 data is on the Motorola Freeware BBS (512) 891-3733

but there is no doco for it (and my assembler spits out the source!)

I think the source to this might be on Moto's free BBS - sorry I
don't have the phone# handy.

A recent posting gave it as 512/891-FREE.

Documentation for the MC6839 floating point ROM exists. My copy is the
"MCM6839 Floating Point ROM Set for the MC6809, Preliminary User's Manual"
dated 15 August 1980. It is 103 pages long but has no source listings.
You should probably check with your local Motorola rep.
