Ok Mod III/IV owners - a question for who's out there and for once, I get to ASK someone! Not exactly, as usual. Someone asked me about modifying a Mod III for high speed clock/operation. I have both my Mod I's cranked right along at 200% overspeed and have worked out the mechanics of cranking them to 300% overspeed (mostly by replacing the slow ROMS sent with it with 1 12k EPROM that is new technology.) A Mod III over friend decided that this 3.54 and up to 5.31 Mhz stuff was too much to pass up, and wants to know if he can modify a Mod III the same way. Since a Mod III is port mapped, where a Mod I is memory mapped, my natural feeling is that this will not only work, but work better than a Mod I. But I'm not familiar with the cuts and what else is involved in the mod. Has anyone out there turbo-d a Mod III? I'm already familiar with the Mod IV upgrade, as a friend has his Mod IV clipping along at an amazing 6 Mhz (amazing he says? You haven't seen fast till you see software, coded to be fast on a 1.77 Mhz Mod I (like Visicalc) run on a 6 Mhz Mod IV!) I'm looking for details, not possibilities, since I know it can be done. I'd just rather not re-invent the wheel. Terry Conklin ihnp4!msudoc!conklin Operating the Club Network The Club (517) 372-3131 The Club II (313) 334-8877 <== with many megs of Mod I/III software.
