I want to replace my 68000 chip with a 68010 chip in my Tandy 68000 Xenix machine. Does anyone know what modifications are needed to make the switch work? Normally, a changeover from 68000 to 68010 is simply plugging in a new chip. But there are a couple of pins that have to be taken care of on the Tandy boards. Thanks. *********************************************************************** <This information is provided by an individual and is not nor should be construed as being provided by Radio Shack or Tandy Corp. To the rest of the net: I apologise for the public reply, but I thought that others might be interested in trying the same thing, and wish to save them the bother and expense of a 68010 chip. Tandy 68000/XENIX will not run on an '010. Our kernel does some interesting things with the stack during bus errors and related exception processing, the stack format of which changed on the '010. Besides, if you want to get the performance out of the '010, the kernel low-level routines need to be recoded to take advantage of LOOP mode. ---- IV (aka John Elliott IV) Domain: iv@hal6000.Tandy.COM 1300 Two Tandy Center UUCP: ...!ihnp4!sys1!hal6000!iv Tandy Systems Software or: ...!decvax!microsoft!trsvax!hal6000!iv Fort Worth, TX 76102 Phone: 817/390-2701; 9:30am-6:00pm CST [This information was provided by an individual and is not nor should be construed as being provided by Radio Shack or Tandy Corporation.
