[comp.sys.tandy] My printer prints in double space

wjones@andromeda.rutgers.edu (Wendell E Jones) (09/16/87)

I have a tandy 1000 and it came with a printer. I was wondering
is the printer supossed to print double space even if you don't want
it to. If not could someone tell me how to correct this mistake.

		thanks in advance

Find the jumper that enables a life feed for every carriage return
and flip it. Most radio shack machines don't need the extra push,
but all ms-dos ones do.

Have you checked to see if the printer is doing an LF when it receives
a CR. If so, there is probably a DIP switch that will remedy the
problem.

I'm trying to anticipate the next question here: What if my printer doesn't
have any DIP switches? Well, Tandy includes an installable device driver
called LF.COM (or is it LF.EXE?). This eliminates the extra line feed. Both
my Radio Shack printers require it to be installed, so I just add it to my
AUTOEXEC.BAT file and forget about it. The command should be documented in
the MS-DOS booklet that comes with the machine.
