I've seen this topic discussed before, but the two answers I have filed away are a bit short of the info I'd like, and a lot probably went through email that I haven't seen. I have a Tandy 16A upgraded to 6000 hardware. I would like to get a cheap, large SCSI hard disk from Jasmine (80M for ~$1400) and attach it via the Tandy Disk Cartridge System controller (that they use for their "Bernoulli Box" thing) which is pseudo-SCSI. It's the "pseudo" that bothers me. Rich Bilancia (bilanc!rab) suggested that I contact Bob Snapp at 513-891-4496, which I did. I then found out that his solution is not just an evening hack, but a product. I would probably have talked further to him about purchasing it, but the smallest config he sells is >200M and >$7000. Frank Durda (trsvax!uhclem) mentioned that "it can talk to multiple controllers, but that is not supported by Tandy, since the Iomega uses a non-standard command set for SCSI operations (as well as a set that changes with each new drive generation) and the distributed driver is geared toward making the Iomegas run well". And the $64,000 question is: I would really appreciate it if anyone could email (or post if you'd like) me any more knowledge they have about doing this kind of thing. The fact that the Jasmine is a "Mac" SCSI disk puts me on edge. If it looks like most problems can be solved with the "right" cable, that can be hacked up. When you start talking about hacking the actual hardware, that's (currently :-) out of my league. dpz -- David P. Zimmerman rutgers!dpz dpz@rutgers.edu
