We are thinking of buying a 4000 for home use, and attach to it the best graphics monitor/card we can afford (think PGA here). MS-DOS is rather out of the question, so we are debating Xenix vs Uport. As Microport's version is cheaper, we'd like to consider that one first. 1) What doesn't work? All systems have bugs, some worse than others. How painful is it to go from a BSD environment at work to a uport 386 home? 2) We can bet there are no /dev/pga drivers. Is it possible to load our own drivers, even in the absence of source? I will appreciate very much hearing from actual experience, and will summarize if enough interest appears.
