Subject: TANDY 100/102 and PROCOMM HOST MODE 11-Nov-87 20:59:00 Sb: Procomm Host Mode To: all I have difficulties getting into the S)hell when communicating with my Home Computer via the RS232 port. The screen always freezes, and I have to cold-boot the computer. I am using a T102 at 300 baud. My DOS version in the host computer, a T1200 is 2.11. I have no problems with the other choices of the Host Mode: C)hat; F)iles; D)ownload; U)pload; G)oodbye. Any suggestions what I might be doing wrong? Thanks for any help. Hans. It sounds as if you simply do not have enough memory in your T1200 to execute another copy of Command.Com on top of Procomm. Memory is no problem. My Tandy 1200 comes with 640K. I found out in the meantime, however, that the F)iles and S)hell options in Procomm's Host Mode are notoriously fickle. In fact, a patch, called HOSTFIX, is available from the Procomm BBS. Using this patch, the computer doesn't lock up any longer but goes instead into an endless loop, returning me again and again to my Host menu. I have also found out that this problem happens only if I access the Tandy 1200 through the RS232 port (COM1). If I use a modem and access via COM2, there are no locking-up problems. I have problems, however, with running programs on my Host. The DOS functions execute flawlessly. Any idea what is happening? Thanks for your interest. Hans.

Procomm Host Here is an update: the lock-up problems don't exist when I use a modem and COM2. The patch HOSTFIX gets me into a loop and returns me always to the menu when using the RS232 port (COM1). Also, I can only perform DOS operations in the SHELL (when using a modem and COM1). Can you ever execute your other .exe and .com files so that they echo back to your remote screen? Where can I find out more about PC remote and host actions? The Procomm .doc file does not contain much, neither does the other file in the DL here. What will Procomm + bring in terms of HOST features? Thanks for any info you can give me. Hans.
