Has anyone else run into a bug in xmail when listing the headers (with the 'h' option) while on a dial-in port? It lists all of the headers, then just sits there. The *only* place 'h' works is on the console. I've tried changing the TERM varible on the dial-in's, but it still doesn't work. Also, does anyone out there know why 3.2, as distributed, had the *old* rmail as rmail (ie: no aliases like xmail supports)? It didn't take me much time to just copy xmail to rmail, setuid it, and let it fly. Works like a charm, and I get my aliases. Don't worry, when in rmail mode, xmail refuses to go into interactive mode, so shell escapes are not possible. -- --- Marc Randolph UUCP: ...!rutgers!pbox!romed!mfbbs!marc FidoNet: 170/329 or 170/220

I'm the author of xmail. Would you please send me a copy of $HOME/.xmailrc and /usr/lib/xmail.rc so I can duplicate your problem with the <h> command? I am unable to duplicate it here. The reason xmail was not disributed as rmail is that xmail will not handle micnet routing. It works fine for UUCP. Using xmail as rmail is fine if you do not wish to use micnet. However, it should not be setuid. It merely runs as a front-end to the old /bin/mail. So, you should turn the setuid bit off ["chmod u-s /bin/rmail"]. ---- IV (aka John Elliott IV) Domain: iv@hal6000.Tandy.COM 1300 Two Tandy Center UUCP: ...!ihnp4!sys1!hal6000!iv Tandy Systems Software or: ...!decvax!microsoft!trsvax!hal6000!iv Fort Worth, TX 76102 Phone: 817/390-2701; 9:30am-6:00pm CST [This information was provided by an individual and is not nor should be construed as being provided by Radio Shack or Tandy Corporation.
