<> In case you have been real busy for the last two or three years, you may have been unaware that the Model I/III LDOS and Model 4/4P/4D TRSDOS 6 products only handle years between 1980 and 1987. (Only 3 bits for the year in directory entries.) If you are trying to get a new version of LDOS or TRSDOS, here is the information you need. (If you just bought a Model 4D from Radio Shack, go back to the store and they should help you out.) For the LS-DOS 6.3 upgrade (you should have TRSDOS 6.2.x), order from: Logical Systems, Inc. P.O. Box 55235 Grand Junction, Co. 81505 303-243-7070 They accept checks as cash and will turn the order around in a few days. Price is $39.95. This is the fastest method of getting the system, according to LSI. If you want, you can phone order and use Visa or Mastercard, but you must add a $5.00 shipping and handling charge, and there will be an additional delay. For LDOS 5.3 for the Model III, order from: Misosys P.O. Box 239 Sterling, Virginia 22170 (No longer in Alexandria!!!) 703-450-4181 The price is $34.95 + shipping and handling. Call for more information. Needless to say, both of these companies are REAL busy right now, so it may take several tries to get through. Owners of the Model I Hard Disk Operating System (26-1132), which is actually the Model I version of LDOS 5.1 are stuck. Misosys has decided not to provide a version that works beyond 1987. These persons should enter old dates, disable the date system, switch to some other third party O/S, or consider getting new hardware. (The Model I was not sold after 1-Jan-82 in the U.S.A. due to FCC regulations.) Hope this helps. <This information is provided by an individual and is not nor should be construed as being provided by Radio Shack or Tandy Corp. It and its decendant VM-370 are smaller than OS/2, and OS/2 doesn't even have its presentation manager yet. For all that size, I wonder if background printing will finally work properly."
