We have been evaluating a Tandy 4000 unit for the last couple of weeks and over all, have been very pleased with the unit. It has been running SCO Xenix 386 without problems 24 hours / day. When we obtained the unit, we were told that it was fully AT compatible with the exception of the CPU, speed and of course memory. The point being that we should be able to use ANY AT/PC card in the bus without problems. However, today we have just received an Everex EVGA card that provides 640 X 400 X 256 colours and when placed into the Tandy bus, prevents the unit from booting; we don't even get failure bells on the power-up test. So what is this card doing that makes it incompatible with the Tandy? Is it overlapping the memory space in some fashion; is the on board EVGA ROM somehow interferring with normal operation? This card has been tested and does work on a IBM-AT without problems. If the Tandy is not compatible with this card what other cards will we have trouble with? I would like to keep this system as it has proven its reliability, but at this point, it has failed the AT compatibility test. Any comments or suggestion would certainly be appreciated. -- Phone: (416)736-2100 x7765 Tyler Ivanco Institute for Space and Terrestrial Sciences - Solar/Terrestrial Physics Lab BITNET: fs300022@yusol UUCP: ...uunet!mnetor!yunexus!gen1!tyler yfcs0027@yorkvm1 ...utzoo!/
