I own a 1000 TX with a monochrome composite monitor and the usual CGA/MGA compatible adapters. 1: I want to use the fancy graphics mode with 320X200 pixels and 16 colors, supposedly SCREEN 5 in basic, but I get an error when I try. There was an article in a recent issue of PCM on using this mode from Turbo Pascal, and I would first like to get familiar with it in basic and then try it in C. The article said that extra memory must be reserved for the screen since 32K is required instead of the usual 16K. Does anyone know why I can't get it working in basic? Do I have an old version of basic, or do I need to do something besides calling SCREEN 5? I didn't try reserving any extra screen memory, I just tried setting the screen mode. 2: I would like to try the TV mode to get color for some graphics. I tried setting MODE TV and plugged the monitor input into a TV/computer adapter on my set that I used to use with a Commodore. Nothing happened. Output still looked OK on my monitor though. Again, is there something else I need to do, or do I need some different hardware (cable, etc.)? Thanks in advance for any replies. --- Jim Loellbach Dept. of Aeronuatical & Astronautical Eng.
